Piccolomini Castle
The impressive and spectacular Celano´s Piccolomini Castle is considered one of the greatest Italian examples of medieval architecture transformed into a fifteenth-century noble residence.
The castle date back to 1223, but the current structure was restored in 1392 by the Count Pietro Berardi and then by the Count Leonello Acclozamora. In 1463, Antonio Todeschini Piccolomini inherited the Castle and transformed the old medieval citadel into a fortified residence.
