Le Gole di Celano
In the heart of the Sirente Velino Natural Park, vertical walls over 250 meters high carved into the limestone by the strength of the river that separates Mount Sirente from the Serra di Celano; this is the show that presents itself to the eyes.
Tourists and enthusiasts come from all over the world to visit this rare example of river erosion.
The dense vegetation contrasts with the bare rock, waterfalls and beeches that grow suspended on vertical walls, giving the dimension of the force of nature.
The lucky ones will have the privilege of watching a pair of golden eagles nesting in the most inaccessible area of the gorges. Le Gole di Celano are among the highest canyons in the Apennines. You can’t not visit them.
